Police have been in 5 of the Need For Speed titles. The first NFS to feature police was The Need for Speed. Normaly in Police Pursuit they are out to chase you and arrest you but in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 and Need for Speed: Most Wanted 5-1-0 you could be the police and catch street racers.

Beginning in Need for Speed: Most Wanted, the game introduced "heat levels". These heat levels, ranging from 1-6, depend on how much damage and how long the police are in pursuit with you.
