Need for Speed: Carbon comes back to night time racing while Need for Speed: Most Wanted was set during the day, It is set in a fictitious metropolis, Palmont City; the game brings back Drift racing, but drops Drag style.

[edit] The Storyline

The story is based on what happened after the ending of Most Wanted. You come from Rockport City down the hills in your BMW M3 GTR. Then you see a blue light in your rearview mirror. You go faster. Suddenly, you'll have to slow down to try to avoid a crash, but you fail and crash into a truck full of posts. They all fall over you. Then you get caught by Cross.

Then Darius comes to the rescue and gets rid off Cross, he then recognizes you. You used to race for him but after a tight situation involves a mass bust of races you took the Car and fled. Now your back and you need to race for him again to pay about for your absense. Then Nikki shows up and she's not happy to see you.

Darius stops her attacking you, then tells her to show you the ropes, She then drives you to where you meet Neville & you get your first car. Then she teaches you about the Crew feature and the different types of wingmen, Blockers, Drafters & Scouts. When she leaves you & Neville get in a Police Pursuit, when you escape you meet up at the Safehouse & your journey begins.

The soundtrack consists of Electronic, Hip Hop and Rock genre music a different style plays when the player is in a different car class. Electronic will play while in a tuner car, Rock for a muscle car and Hip Hop for an exotic car.
